Elmbridge Community Eco Hub – Safe Spaces Policy

  • Elmbridge Community Eco Hub is committed to developing and running projects where people:
    • feel free to be themselves,
    • respect and support each other,
    • feel able to express themselves and ask questions without fear of reprisal or humiliation and where abuse and discrimination are not tolerated.

  • We want people to feel welcome and included to participate in our activities regardless of their gender, ability, age, ethnicity, size, class, religion, culture and sexuality. Any form of discriminatory language or behaviour is unacceptable.
  • We will not tolerate: sexual harassment; bullying; use of offensive language; making assumptions about an individual based on perceived characteristics; or sharing of confidential information about others without their consent.
  • We expect all those taking part in our activities to pay attention to their conduct, language and behaviour in order that it does not jeopardise the safety, well-being, and/or breach the boundaries of other people. Consent must be obtained before touching another person.
  • We will proactively challenge any form of discrimination or oppression.
  • For any activities that require the involvement of minors or vulnerable adults, we will ask for express permission from guardians for involvement and any photography.
  • If any volunteer or member of the public feels that a violation of this policy has occurred, they are encouraged to make the relevant Project Lead or a Director of the CIC aware.
