Tonnes of litter

A local community volunteer group whose message is to encourage people to look after their own streets so that collectively we all look after the general area.

Join us on the first Sunday of every month

Walton litter pickers formed in April 2019 and in the intervening months have picked over 9 tonnes of litter from the streets of Walton. We are supported by Keep Britain Tidy and encourage people not to drop litter, but if you see it to please pick it up.

We run monthly group litter picks in Walton and encourage all of our members to Commit To Their Street.

We ask our volunteers to start from their homes, clean the street they live on, and make their way to the Eco Hub in Elmgrove for approximately 10am. Complementary coffee and cake will be provided for all. If anyone needs to borrow any litter picking equipment, please get in touch beforehand. We can provide litter pickers, hi-vis vests and rubbish collection bags.

Please remember to not pick up any sharp objects such as needles or broken glass, always wear gloves, use a litter picker (we have plenty you can borrow), stay safe, wear a hi-vis if you have one and be very careful around the roads and waters edge. If your children are accompanying you, they are your responsibility, so please keep an eye on them at all times.  We hope to see you at the Hub for refreshments afterwards.  HOWEVER, if the weather is awful, please stay at home. We will reschedule for another time.

May 2022 Litter Pick

62.3kg of litter collected by the volunteers of @walton_litter_pickers this month. Fantastic to see so many young people participating especially those first time volunteers. Great work all.

Shame to see the people that “do” laughing gas have moved on to industrial level canisters. Something needs to be done before someone is killed by one of these guys driving around our streets stoned and drunk. Canisters regularly found with cider, beers cans, vodka bottles, dope bags, cocaine wraps etc Elmbridge Beat (Surrey Police) Surrey County Dominic Raab BBC News BBC Radio Surrey

On a lighter note, if anyone has lost a T Rex he/she can be found on top of the notice board on the path entering Elm Grove park next to PA housing.

Our next litter pick will take place on Sunday 5 June 2022.

March 2022 Litter Pick

On Sunday 6th March, 36 good people came out and helped clean the streets of Walton-on-Thames. Together we collected 126kg of litter from the streets, parks and lanes of the town! Afterwards we enjoyed a well earned hot drink and a piece of homemade chocolate cake at the Eco hub.

Our next litter pick will take place on Sunday Sunday 3rd April 2022. We organise these for the first Sunday of each month.

We ask our volunteers to start from their homes, clean the street they live on, and make your way to the Eco Hub in Elmgrove for approximately 10am. Complementary coffee and cake will be provided for all. If anyone needs to borrow any litter picking equipment, please get in touch before hand. We can provide litter pickers, Hi Vis Vests and rubbish collection bags.

Please remember to not pick up any sharp objects such as needles or broken glass, always wear gloves, use a litter picker (we have plenty you can borrow), stay safe, wear a Hi Vis if you have one, be very careful around the roads and waters edge. If your children are accompanying you, they are your responsibility, so please keep an eye on them at all times.  We hope to see you at the Hub for refreshments afterwards.  HOWEVER, if the weather is awful, please stay at home. We will reschedule for another time.

Thankyou
